Underwater Robotics
Building their Efficiency against Strong Market Demand
Key Challenges
A requirement was identified to explore organisational inefficiencies within the underwater robotics market, where progress towards delivering the organisation's mission and vision was being hindered despite strong market demand.
Growing Market
We identified a growing market where the organisation was unable to secure a stable market share, resulting in broader issues affecting revenue stability and the accuracy of future forecasting.
Employee Morale
Ongoing issues around capability, capacity, process inefficiencies, and organisational coherence adversely affected staff morale, contributing to a decline in employee retention.
Unsuitable Operating Model
Findings from the initial work highlighted that the existing operating model was not fit for purpose, limiting the organisation’s ability to progress towards its intended future vision.
How We Delivered
Redesign of Employee Structure
We deployed a core team of consultants with reach back for specific technical challenges and redefined the people, processes, organisation, and technology aspects of the business
Optimised Operating Model
Identified in excess of 300 root cause issues. These were communicated to senior stakeholders and assigned metadata to categorise into transformational and efficiency improvements
Restructure of Processes
We created a total of 14 workstreams based on the thematic grouping of the 300 issues identified. We delivered them as a partnership using a blended client-consultant team.
Results
Our approach enabled the consolidation of data across the organisation, and the identification of 300 root cause issues, which were subsequently categorised into transformational and efficiency-based initiatives.
We developed a blueprint to demonstrate the optimised structure, processes and technology to deliver its mission.
Throughout our engagement, we focused on improving workforce engagement and culture through targeted change and stakeholder management activities, while enabling leadership to make informed, data driven decisions through clearer governance and the consolidation and clarification of organisational data.
